This Privacy Policy explains how [ENTITY](“DawaLens”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use the DawaLens mobile application (the “App”). DawaLens is an information tool that helps you understand medicines and food. It is not a medical service and does not provide medical advice. By using the App, you agree to this Policy.
1. Information we collect
We collect only what the App needs to work for you:
- Account identifiers. When you first open the App, an anonymous account is created for you automatically. If you add and verify an email address, we store that email so you can recover your account. If you provide a phone number, we store it as part of your profile.
- Health profile. Details you choose to enter, such as your name, age, gender, location, medical conditions, allergies, and nutrition or calorie goals. Some of this is sensitive health information, which we use only to personalise warnings and guidance for you.
- Scan content. Photos you capture of medicine packs or food, the text read from them, and the results we generate (for example, the identified medicine, allergy flags, price comparisons, or nutrition estimates).
- Activity you save. Your scan history, food log entries, and saved preferences such as your chosen language.
- Technical data. Basic information needed to operate and secure the App, such as app version and error diagnostics.
2. How we use your information
- Identify medicines and foods you scan and present information about them.
- Check scans against your saved allergies and conditions to show relevant warnings.
- Compare medicine prices against published ceiling prices and lower-cost alternatives.
- Estimate and track nutrition and calories for foods you log.
- Let you sign in again and recover your account using your verified email.
- Maintain, secure, and improve the App, and fix problems.
3. AI processing of your scans
To identify medicines and foods and generate explanations, the content of your scans (images and/or extracted text) is sent securely to Google’s Gemini API for processing. We send only what is needed to produce your result. We do not use your scans to train our own models.
4. Service providers we share data with
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with trusted providers who process it on our behalf, under their respective terms:
- Supabase — secure database, authentication, and storage for your account and saved data.
- Google (Gemini API) — AI processing of scan content to identify items and generate results.
- Resend — delivery of verification and account emails.
- Open Food Facts — a public food database queried for barcode and product lookups.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the App.
5. How your data is protected
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections. Your saved records are protected by row-level security so that they are accessible only from your own account. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
6. Data retention and deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account exists or as needed to provide the App. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at support@dawalens.online. We will delete or anonymise your data unless we are required to retain it by law.
7. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, including India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the right to access, correct, and delete your personal data, to withdraw consent, and to raise a grievance. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.
8. Children
The App is intended for adults aged 18 and over and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, please contact us so we can remove it.
9. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the App.
